What a Wonderful World -Louis Amstrong

Louis Amstrong es sin duda una de las figuras más carismáticas del mundo de la música.
Comenzó Louis Amstrong en la música como cornetista y trompetista pero se consagraría en el mundo de Jazz como cantante.También era conocido por los apodos de Satchmo (boca de bolsa) y Pops , debido a la tendencia de Amstrong de olvidar los nombres , y los llamaba "Pops" (aparece)
Gran improvisador, fue atrevido y sofisticado para la época, mientras que a menudo sutil y melódico.

Sus melodías eran alegres, creativas con sutiles ritmos con la trompeta. Creando el papel del solista en el Jazz.
También fue uno de los maestros del Scat ( improvisación de vocablos sin palabras) en el Jazz.
Como cantante su mayor éxito de ventas lo obtuvo en el 1964 con la canción "Hello Dolly"
"What a wonderful world", es una canción de jazz, escrita en el año 1967 por  Bob Thiele y George David Weiss para Louis .
Es una canción optimista y con esperanza en el futuro, en un momento de mayor crispación prebélica entre EE.UU y la URSS,  y  época de protestas. 
"What a wonderful world" fue banda sonora de la película "Good morning, Vietnam" y la famosa serie de televisión "Cosas de casa"

It´s raining men -Weather girls

"It´s raining men" , es una canción que en 1982,   publicaron el grupo musical Weather Girls. Aunque   la canción fue escrita en el año 1979 por  Paul Jabara y Paul Shaffer, y   ofrecida a cantantes de la talla de Diana Ross, Donna Summer, Cher o Barbra Streisand, estás declinaron la oferta y  fueron al final las "chicas del tiempo"  quién grabaron y publicaron la canción que se convirtió en un éxito, llegándose a ser la canción un  superventas,  con  más de seis millones de disco vendidos en todo el mundo.

"It´s raining men"  fue incluido en el año 2001 en el segundo disco de la ex Spice Girls,  Geri Halliwell  este cover  fue usado en el soundtrack de "El Diario de Bridget Jones", convirtiéndose también  en un éxito en Gran Bretaña.

American pie -Don Mclean-

"American pie", es una  canción que escribió  el cantante y compositor estadounidense Don Mclean  en 1971 que trata sobre los hechos que ocurrieron el  martes 3 de febrero de 1959. Ese día, murieron en accidente de avión los  famosos compositores y músicos de rock and roll: Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens y The Big Bopper   llegando a llamarse ese fatídico día,  como:  "El día que murio la música".

"American pie" fue grabada y publicada en un álbum con el mismo nombre en el año 1971, llegando a estar en primeras posiciones en las listas de éxitos. El álbum fue dedicado a Buddy Holly,  casado  y su esposa,  embarazada de un bebe, perdió el hijo que esperaba, cuando se entero del fallecimiento de su esposo.

En la canción "American pie" tanto Buddy Holly como al resto  de los músicos  ( Ritchie Valens y  Big Bopper) que fallecieron  en el accidente aéreo, no son  identificados  por su nombre en la canción, por lo que ha levantado cierta curiosidad debido a la encriptación de la letra.
La letra hace un recorrido desde el fatídico 3 de febrero de 1959 hasta el año 1970 aproximadamente.
Aunque ello no ha quitado que la canción se haya convertido  en un icono dentro de la  Historia de EE.UU.
 

Ni que decir tiene que la canción,   escrita por Don Mclean ha sido versionada, parodiada y fuente de inspiración de numerosos artistas.
